Yoga for beginner courses is perfect for those who have never done yoga before and also for those who have done a bit of yoga here and there, but would like to learn yoga systematically in order to develop sincere and disciplined yoga practice. Rishikesh Yoga Prakash is an authentic and certified yoga school located in the foothills of Himalaya. Our internationally experienced teaching faculty is well trained in teaching all aspects of yoga in a safer and enjoyable environment. We offer 10 days and 20 days yoga courses for absolute beginner.

Our objective is to provide an in-depth understanding of traditional yoga system combined with modern yogic methods. We aim to build essential foundation for a methodical yoga practice by covering all aspects of yoga, that includes physical, philosophical, therapeutic and preventive aspects of; yoga postures, yogic methods of developing healthy breathing habits, yogic cleansing methods for purifications of internal organs, yogic relaxation, breath control techniques with essential energy locks, improved concentration techniques, meditation with essential yoga anatomy, physiology and yoga philosophy etc.

Flexibility and strength are not prerequisites for beginners. Yoga is not a competition and hence there should be no struggle in a true yoga practice. The journey of yoga can start at any age, with any health condition. In order to gain deeper benefits from yoga, one must continue a regular, un-intrepeutted practice of yoga; as said by Saga Patanjali in PYS (Patanjali Yoga Sutra)

Comprehensive Approach to Yoga for Beginners

One of the primary objectives of beginner yoga courses is to provide an in-depth understanding of the traditional yoga system while incorporating modern yogic methods. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation for systematic practice, covering several key aspects:

  1. Physical Aspects:
    • Yoga Postures (Asanas): A step-by-step introduction to fundamental postures that enhance flexibility, strength, and balance. Beginners are guided to practice asanas safely, without forcing their bodies beyond their current limits.
    • Therapeutic and Preventive Benefits: The focus extends to understanding how yoga postures help alleviate common ailments and prevent future health issues, such as back pain, stress, and poor posture.
  2. Breathing Techniques (Pranayama):
    • Developing healthy breathing habits is a core component. Pranayama techniques teach participants how to control their breath, enhancing energy flow, reducing stress, and promoting overall well-being.
  3. Yogic Cleansing Methods (Kriyas):
    • Beginners are introduced to gentle purification techniques that cleanse internal organs and prepare the body for deeper yoga practices. These methods include practices like jala neti (nasal cleansing) and kapalabhati (cleansing breath).
  4. Relaxation Techniques:
    • Deep relaxation is essential for balancing the body and mind. Guided relaxation techniques help beginners release physical tension and mental stress, paving the way for a state of calm and mindfulness.
  5. Breath Control with Energy Locks (Bandhas):
    • Beginners learn the basics of breath control and energy locks to harness and channel the body’s vital energy effectively.
  6. Concentration and Meditation:
    • Improved concentration techniques are introduced to enhance mental clarity and focus. Meditation practices help beginners cultivate mindfulness and inner peace, making yoga a holistic experience.
  7. Yoga Anatomy and Philosophy:
    • Understanding the anatomy and physiology of yoga ensures that beginners practice safely and effectively. Additionally, studying yoga philosophy, including essential teachings from ancient texts, provides a deeper insight into the spiritual and ethical dimensions of yoga.

Key Principles for Beginners:

  1. Flexibility and Strength Are Not Prerequisites: A common misconception is that one must be flexible or strong to begin yoga. In reality, yoga meets you where you are, regardless of your physical condition. Yoga is not a competition, and there should be no struggle in true yoga practice. The focus is on personal growth and self-awareness rather than comparison.
  2. Age and Health Conditions Are No Barriers: Yoga is inclusive and adaptable, making it accessible to individuals of all ages and health conditions. Modifications and props can be used to tailor practices to individual needs, ensuring safety and comfort.
  3. Regular Practice Is Key: Consistency is the cornerstone of reaping yoga’s full benefits. As stated by Sage Patanjali in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras (PYS), uninterrupted and disciplined practice over time leads to profound transformation. Beginners are encouraged to commit to a regular practice schedule, no matter how short the duration initially.

Benefits of Yoga for Beginners

The benefits of yoga extend far beyond physical fitness. For beginners, these advantages become evident with consistent practice:

  1. Physical Well-Being:
    • Improved flexibility, strength, and balance.
    • Relief from common ailments like back pain, joint stiffness, and poor posture.
    • Enhanced respiratory and cardiovascular health through better breathing techniques.
  2. Mental and Emotional Benefits:
    • Reduction in stress and anxiety levels.

    • Cultivation of mindfulness, gratitude, and inner peace.

The Role of Experience in Yoga

Yoga is ultimately about personal experience. The benefits of yoga cannot be fully understood through theory alone; they must be felt and internalized through consistent practice. For beginners, this journey begins with small, achievable steps. Over time, the practice becomes more intuitive, and the benefits deepen.

Morning yoga practices are particularly energizing, charging the body with vitality for the day ahead. Evening practices, on the other hand, help release the stress of the day, promoting relaxation and preparing the body for restful sleep. Regardless of when one practices, the key is to approach yoga with sincerity and an open heart.

By incorporating yoga postures, breathing techniques, cleansing methods, relaxation, meditation, and philosophy, beginners are equipped to embark on a lifelong journey of self-discovery and growth.

With consistent and sincere practice, beginners can experience profound benefits that extend beyond the mat, leading to a healthier, happier, and more balanced life. In a safe and nourishing environment, the journey of yoga unfolds as a deeply personal and enriching experience, paving the way for holistic well-being.
